For more than 20 years in ministry and over 33 years as a theater arts educator, Joe Elvis Alway has combined faith and storytelling to create original plays and musicals that inspire, challenge, and uplift audiences. Having served in pastoral leadership, youth ministry, Christian education, community outreach, and theater ministry, Joe brings both biblical understanding and theatrical experience to every production.

As founder of Drama in Christ Theatre Arts Ministry and the Multicultural Arts Foundation of St. Louis, he has written, directed, and produced faith-centered works for churches, schools, community organizations, and theaters throughout the United States.

OPEN HOUSE ON CHRISTMAS EVE

On Christmas Eve, Miguel, a man in his thirties caring for his elderly grandmother, is visited by four mysterious figures. The first, Michael, holds a newborn named Emmanuel, fulfilling a dream Miguel had of God revealing Himself through a child. As the night unfolds, Nativity, Gabriel, and a skeptical figure named Luke each challenge Miguel’s faith, leading him to confront his beliefs and doubts.

The play explores redemption and love as Miguel faces a life-changing choice: to open his heart to God’s call or resist it. Open House on Christmas Eve reminds audiences of the true meaning of Christmas—love, grace, and salvation.

When Lazarus arrives, he passionately recounts his personal experiences with Jesus, offering a fresh perspective.
